Romana King is a personal finance and real estate expert who’s been helping people navigate money matters for over two decades. She’s the brains behind RKHomeowner and has covered everything from the 2008 financial crisis and the U.S. housing collapse to the dot-com bubble and housing trends across North America.
Throughout her career, Romana has written about just about every aspect of personal finance — investing, estate planning, you name it. She was one of the first to explain how exchange-traded funds (ETFs) could shake up the mutual fund industry, and she’s been a strong advocate for making financial literacy a priority in Canada and beyond. Along the way, she also highlighted the importance of understanding homeownership as part of personal finance and discussed everything from investing strategies to home insurance.
Her work hasn’t gone unnoticed. Romana has picked up several awards, including:
- 2023 Bronze in Real Estate, Axiom Business Book Awards
- Best 2022 Book Award, Excellence in Financial Journalism (EFJ) Award
- Finalist, Best Adult Book 2022, Readers Choice Book Awards
- 2022 Best Book Cover, Page Turner Awards
- 2019 Silver Award for Business Service Article, Canadian Online Publishing Awards
- 2014 Gold Medal, CPA Finance Reporting Awards

Her writing has been featured in some of the biggest publications in Canada, including The Globe & Mail, Maclean’s, the Toronto Star, and Daily Hive. You’ve probably seen her on TV or heard her on the radio too — she’s been a guest on shows like Breakfast Television, CityNews, CBC, and Global News.
To deepen her knowledge, Romana obtained her real estate licenses in Ontario and British Columbia. Plus, she completed the preliminary coursework as a financial planner. These days, when she’s not writing, she’s sharing her platform with other personal finance experts and contributing to sites across North America.

Business Development at RBC Dominion Securities Romana is the hardest worker you will ever meet. She writes with skill, she interviews with passion and she edits with intense focus — all to get the publication out on time and on point. She was a huge help to me at AER when she was associate editor. Since then, other publications have benefited enormously from her skill-set.

Writer/Editor/Blogger/Educator in Financial Services Romana is possibly the hardest working person I know. Her dedication to a task is highly commendable. Her recent relaunch of Canadian Insurance as Top Broker provides ample evidence of her passion for publishing.
